Resident Discovers Incendiary Device In Mailbox

An area resident was checking his mail Saturday was surprised to find that someone had apparently shoved an incendiary device inside.

The resident of Old Florence Pulaski Highway reported the incident around 2:30 p.m. Saturday to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies. The resident indicated that the device resulted in a fire inside the box. He indicated that all that remained was what appeared to be a water bottle and some aluminum foil. Damages were estimated to total $15.00.

The matter remains under continued investigation through detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone with pertinent information is encouraged to contact the department at 762-3626.
