Man Lying In Parking Lot Arrested For Public Intoxication

A Lawrenceburg man found lying in the parking lot of a local business early Sunday was taken into custody when a policeman discovered he was intoxicated.

An officer with the Lawrenceburg Police Department reports he was on routine patrol in the area of North End Market, 811 North Mahr Avenue, just after 5:00 a.m. when he noticed a man was lying in the parking lot, on the east side of the building. Next to the man, he reports, was a bicycle with a tent strapped to the handle bars.

The officer reports it appeared the man had passed out. He noted there was a sheathed knife, approximately 6” in length, in the man’s back pocket.

The officer reports he awakened the man and asked for identification. At that time, he reports the man handed him a Florida driver license. According to reports the man had a strong odor of alcohol about him and exhibited many signs of being intoxicated. The officer notes the man believed himself to be in Louisiana and indicated he was “almost home.”

As a result of the investigation the man was taken into custody on charges of public intoxication. William Franklin Price, 33, of 306 Torges Street, was transported to the Lawrence County Jail without further incident.

Price is scheduled for an initial appearance through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on June 4, 2010.
