Ethridge Home Burglarized While Resident Is Away

An Ethridge resident reported to law enforcement officials that her home had been burglarized while she was away for a brief time Monday morning.

The victim, age 27, reported that she had left her South Brace Road home around 7:00 a.m., returning at 8:30 a.m. to find that the front door had been kicked open.

Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that the burglar rummaged about in the house, stealing several items.

Items missing include a Mossberg shotgun, Dell desktop computer, miscellaneous tools, chainsaw, and family pictures. She said that her dog was also missing.

The door, frame and seal were damaged during the commission of the crime. Other items may be missing, as well. The victim said her dad was away, but when he returns he will see if other items were stolen.

When they left the premises the culprits apparently exited through the back door, leaving it standing open.

In addition to the thefts and damages, deputies noted that two televisions had been moved out of bedrooms and left on the floor in the living room.

Deputies checked with neighbors, however no one reported seeing or hearing anything suspicious.

Loss is estimated to be in excess of $1,100.

The victim later contacted deputies to report that she had found her dog.
