Student Prank Makes Teacher Ill

A Lawrence County teacher became ill Wednesday when he was targeted in a prank conjured up by two of his students.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department reports show that the incident occurred early Wednesday while the eight grade students were watching a training film. One of the teachers had kept two boys inside his classroom to complete homework and a write off. While he as out of the room someone delivered his daily cup of coffee and the boys allegedly spiked it with Germ-X. The teacher told deputies that he returned to his classroom and drank the entire cup of coffee. Later he became ill.

According to the teacher he did not realize he had been the target of a prank until a concerned student began asking him if he felt okay. When he questioned the girl she told him that she had heard about the prank and just wanted to ensure he was all right.

The matter was turned over to Principal Sue Brewer who reported she interviewed a number of students about the matter. She told deputies that the students had admitted to the misdeed.

School Director Dr. Bill Heath said Thursday that investigation into the matter is still continuing at the current time and that the boys will be disciplined according to school policy and regulations.
