City Discontinues Command Center Due To Installation Of New Light Control System

Lawrenceburg City Administrator William McLain announced Friday that since a state-installed preemption system has been installed in the area of on-going bridge construction, the city will discontinue manning its mobile command center.

The city had established a mobile command center west of two bridges under construction on West Gaines (Highway 64), to ensure emergency services would be available in a timely manner for residents that reside in that area.

McLain said the system will allow emergency vehicles to pass through the construction area virtually unimpeded. This will allow for the smooth flow of emergency traffic.

Since the bridge improvements are a state project, costs associated with the installation of the system, including software, hardware and labor, were covered by the State of Tennessee.
