Dogs Kill Goat, Chase Woman

A woman cutting grass in the Summertown area Wednesday afternoon reported to authorities that dogs roaming in the neighborhood killed a goat, then began to chase her.

The victim reported the incident around 2:00 p.m. to deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department. She indicated she had been cutting grass at her sister’s home at 373 Railroad Bed Road when she saw the group of dogs attack and kill a goat that was tied in the yard at 377 Railroad Bed Road.

As she was loading her lawnmower, she told deputies the dogs “came at her and ran her across the road.”

Deputies determined that three of the dogs belonged to a resident of 377 Railroad Bed Road, one to a resident at #372, and one to a resident at #369.

Deputies report they were unable to make contact with any of the owners at that time. They did speak to the mother of the woman who owned three of the suspect dogs, however, and asked that she warn her to keep her dogs confined.

Investigation into the matter is continuing at the present time.
