Perkins Nabbed For TennCare FraudJacquline J. Perkins

A recent investigation undertaken by the Lawrence County Drug Task Force and the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has lead to the arrest of a Lawrenceburg woman on charges that she sold medication she had obtained through the state’s TennCare program.

Jacquline J. Perkins, age 48, is charged with one count of TennCare fraud for allegedly selling a number of morphine pills she obtained using her TennCare medical insurance. If convicted Perkins will face imprisonment of up to two years.

Officials point out that OIG, a separate entity from TennCare, is tasked with investigating such fraud incidents. Since it was founded in 2005 more than $2.6 million in restitution and recoupment has been returned to TennCare and more than 920 individuals have been charged with TennCare fraud.

With the implementation of OIG’s “Cash for Tips” program, individuals may report instances of fraud. Should the tip lead to a conviction, the tipster may be eligible to receive a cash reward. Tips may be reported by calling 800-433-3982 or by visiting www.tncarefraud.tennessee.gov and following the “Report TennCare Fraud” prompts.
