Mallory’s Way Foundation To Hold Annual Fundraiser

Officials with Mallory’s Way Foundation have announced that the annual fundraiser and Community Fun Day will be held Saturday, May 1, 2010, on the grounds of the Summertown Saddle and Bridle Club.

Mallory Erin Scott lost her life in an automobile accident October 1, 2006, just days before her 19th birthday. In order to commemorate her life, family and friends established Mallory’s Way.

The goals of the foundation are to:  1.Assist local families with children or help assist those with severe medical issues. 2.Purchase items to be used by patients at a local children’s hospital. 3.Purchase items to benefit the community as a whole. In addition, to-date the foundation has awarded $5,000 in scholarship funds.

Born October 9, 1987, Mallory was the daughter of George and Kim Matheny Scott, sister of Will and Luke, and granddaughter of Charles and Jeanette Matheny and Bobby and Opal Scott. A life-long resident of Summertown, Mallory was a 2006 graduate of Summertown High School where she excelled in both academics and athletics.

The fundraiser and Family Fun Day will feature such events as a fish fry, games, contests, classic car show, food sales, auction, team scavenger hunt, dunking machine, and a memorial balloon release. Anyone may participate in the balloon release.

Notes to deceased loved ones will be attached to the balloons, then released to heaven. In addition, entertainment will be provided by Matt Roy and The Jeff Quillen Band.

Serving for the fish fry will be from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Plates, available at a cost of $8.00 apiece, will include fish, hushpuppies, coleslaw, beans, baked potato salad, dessert and drink. Corndogs, popcorn and cotton candy will also be available.

T-shirts and cookbooks will also be sold to benefit the foundation.
