Resident Reports Fraud In Egg Washer Purchase

A Summertown man reported to deputies Thursday that he had apparently been scammed out of money while attempting to purchase a piece of farm equipment.

He said that he had arranged to purchase an egg washer from a man in Iowa at a cost of $5,635 and had sent half of the money up front. He said he was to pay the remainder upon receipt.

The victim said that he had sent the first payment, but had never received the egg washer. He told deputies that he had repeatedly attempted to contact the seller, but had been unable to do so.

The victim provided deputies with a copy of all of the paperwork associated with the transaction. Investigation in the case is on-going.
