Local Woman Target Of Identity Theft
A local woman recently became the target of identity thieves who racked up thousands of dollars in debt in her name.
The victim reported to deputies Thursday that credit card and telephone accounts had been opened in her name. She had recently been contacted by collection agencies, indicating that she had outstanding balances. Altogether the debt owed was more than $5,000.
The matter currently remains under investigation.
