Altercation Results From Resident’s Attempts To Slow Driver

A resident of Tingle Trapp Road reported to authorities Sunday that an altercation had resulted from his efforts to slow a driver who has been posing a hazard within his neighborhood.

The matter was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m. The resident told Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies that he had made several recent attempts to slow the driver of a blue truck who has been driving along the roadway at a high rate of speed for the past several weeks.

He said that several times he has yelled for the driver to slow down so as not to pose a hazard to neighborhood children playing in the area.

The victim said that on that day as the man passed he stopped on his property, exited his truck, and took a swing at him. He said he was able to dodge the blow, grab an iron pipe, and strike the man on the lower leg. He said that the man then got back into his truck and left.

A neighbor who witnessed the incident reported the same facts. He told the deputy that the man, “Speeds up and down the road all the time causing a disturbance.”
