Elderly Resident Awakes To Find Man Crawling On Bedroom Floor

An elderly Lawrenceburg resident summoned police officers to her home early Monday morning when she awakened to find a man crawling across her bedroom floor.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were dispatched to the Randall Street home. They spoke with the eighty-seven year old victim at a neighbor’s house, from which she had placed the 911 call.

The victim reported that she had been asleep in her bed shortly after 1:00 a.m., when she was awakened. She told officers that she saw a man crawling across her bedroom floor. She said that she raised up, told him she was going to kill him, and that he then fled out of the house.

Officers conducted a thorough search of the house. While doing so they report hearing sounds in a wooded area behind the home. They went into the woods and report that a subject, “jumped up” and ran further into the woods. Officers gave chase, but were ultimately unable to catch him.

Investigation into the matter is currently continuing through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
