Alabama Woman Arrested For Impersonating Sister

An Alabama woman was taken into custody this week by local authorities on charges that she impersonated her sister when last arrested in Lawrence.

Florence, Alabama resident Carla Bryan Moore, age 44, came to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Monday to report that an arrest warrant issued in her name should actually bear the name of her sister.

Moore told deputies that representatives of Herb’s Bonding Company had come to her 64 County Road 376 home, stating that a warrant had been issued for her arrest. When she looked at the paperwork, Moore found that the photo attached was actually of her sister, Regina Bryan Hamner, 46, of 1219 Highway 64, Killen, Alabama.

Reports indicate that when she was arrested in Lawrence County, Hamner had given authorities a name, date of birth and social security number that belonged to her sister.

Once bonding company representatives recognized the mistake, they advised Moore to go to the sheriff’s department to straighten out the matter.

As a result of the incident officials with the District Attorney’s Office ordered that warrants be issued against Hamner for the crime of criminal impersonation. Deputies were able to apprehend Hamner at a home in Lauderdale County, Alabama.
