Pawned Rifle Was Stolen In Michigan

Local authorities were notified Monday afternoon that a rifle that had been pawned at a Lawrenceburg pawn shop, had been reported as stolen in the State of Michigan.

Lawrence Central Dispatch was notified of the situation around 4:15 p.m. by officials with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were then dispatched to investigate.

An employee of Rebel Pawn Shop, 127 Depot Street, reported that he was preparing to sell the Remington Gomemaster 308 caliber, 760 model rifle, and ran a TBI check on the serial number. He said that TBI received a hit, indicating that the rifle had been reported stolen.

Officers found that the rifle had been received by the store in trade on August 25, 2007. The teen who made the trade, reports show, is a resident of Napier Road.

The rifle was seized into evidence. Investigation into the matter is continuing at the current time.
