Police Intervene In Siblings’ Scuffle

Lawrenceburg Police Officers were called upon to intervene Monday when a domestic altercation erupted between siblings.

Officers were first dispatched to investigate a domestic altercation in progress at a home on Honeysuckle Drive shortly after 10:00 a.m. The resident told officers that his sister had come to his home and “started in on him causing problems.” He stated that she had attempted to enter his home and an altercation erupted.

The sister told officers that she had come to her brother’s house to retrieve their sister. She indicated that she feared her brother had been “smoking crack” and wanted her sister to leave because she had been drug-free for the past ten years. She stated that she and her niece had been trying to get her sister to come home with them and stay away from any negative influences.

While she was there, she told officers her brother pushed her niece and struck her in the face. He then allegedly grabbed a rock, wielding it like a weapon. The woman stated that she was able to “take him to the ground” and disarm him before he was able to injure anyone.

Officers noted that the sister had sustained no injuries and the brother had sustained only a small scratch to the nose. Since they were unable to determine a primary aggressor, they advised the siblings to separate from one another in order to allow a cooling down period. After they had done so, officers left the scene.

Just before 4:00 p.m. the same day reports show officers on patrol in the area of Spring Avenue (the sister’s home), they were flagged down by a young man. He reported that the man involved in the first altercation had come to his sister’s home and was “causing problems.”

When they arrived at the home officers report that the man had already left. The sister reported, however, that he had hurled a rock through her window, causing damages to the window, blind, a picture, and the picture glass. Damages were estimated to total $420.00.

The matter remains under investigation at the current time by detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
