Burglars steal items, cause damage at solid waste facility

Lawrenceburg Now

Authorities report that persons who broke into the Lawrence County Solid Waste facility on Baler Driver during the weekend caused more than $1,500 in loss and damage.

Employees told Lawrenceburg Police officers that they had arrived at 8:00 a.m. Monday to find that someone had pried open a door on the maintenance department and gained entry. Stolen items included a Miller welder, table grinder, vice and two batteries for power drills.

The culprit apparently used department tools and a cutting torch to cut the bolts that attached the grinder and vice to a table.

Currently, the case remains under investigation through the police department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information about the crime should contact the department at 931-762-2276.
