Investigations Underway In Various Area Crimes

Detectives with local law enforcement agencies have been handed numerous crime cases to delve into in recent days.

One such case involved the fraudulent use of a debit card belonging to a Lawrenceburg man. The resident of Victor Street reported to Lawrenceburg Police Officers Monday that someone had used the number from his Bank of America debit card to purchase a website from Internet Cash Machine.

The victim said he was uncertain how the culprit obtained his number since the card is still in his possession. He indicated to officers that he did cancel the card to prevent any further fraud instances. Loss totaled $14.98.

A resident of Old Florence Road reported to police Monday that he had discovered damage to his 2001 Chevrolet Impala. Reports show the rear window was busted out with a large rock, found lying on the rear window deck. Also, two tires were cut through the sidewalls. Damages were estimated at $1,000.

On Monday morning a resident of Fall River Road reported to police officers that someone had stolen articles of her clothing as well as various dishes from inside her home. Investigation into the matter is on-going.

Officers were summoned to a home on Beckham Avenue Monday afternoon where a resident reported an individual came onto his property without permission and began making threats of physical violence against him and his girlfriend.

The resident reported the man threatened to use gasoline to burn down their home while they slept and to poison their dog. Officers indicate the culprit had left prior to their arrival.

A resident of Iron City’s Elm Street reported to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies during the weekend that her neighbor’s dog had come onto her property and killed her cat. She indicated she heard noises and went outside to investigate.

The dog, she reported, was atop a trailer attacking her white Persian cat. She chased the dog away, she said, but not before the cat had been killed. She told deputies that the dog belonged to a neighbor.

Lawrenceburg Police Officers responded to Taz Mart on West Gaines Street during the weekend when a resident of Lawrenceburg’s Gatlin Lane discovered her purse had been stolen.

She told officers that she had left her purse inside her 2001 Nissan Sentra in the parking lot of the store. The vehicle had been left unlocked. Nothing except the purse and contents appeared to be missing.
