Tennessee bill to ban hand held cellphones while driving has passed through the House.

On Wednesday morning the bill to ban the use of hand held cellphones while driving has passed through the Tennessee House.

This bill would ban several uses of cell phones including, hand held calls, texting, music control, navigation, and anything that includes the phone being held while driving.

Once the bill is passed it would allow law enforcement to ticket $50 to drivers who are seen holding their cell phones in their hands while driving

This does not apply to people who are using their phone for navigation and have it in their cup holder or attached to the vehicle’s dash.

The Supporters of the bill say this is a way to protect everyone on the road, and fix the current issue of texting while driving.

Now that the bill has passed through the House it will move onto the state Senate before Governor Bill Lee can sign.
