Dog Acts Aggressively Toward Deputy During Investigation

A Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy reported Wednesday that while he was conducting an investigation regarding a pit bull terrier attacking other dogs in a Summertown neighborhood, the dog acted aggressively toward him, preventing him from making contact with its owner.

The deputy was summoned to a home located at 236 Freedom Road shortly after 9:30 p.m. The resident indicated that her neighbor’s dog had come onto her front porch and attacked her hound dog, inflicting serious injuries.

While he was taking the report, the deputy indicates the dog was standing at the property line barking at him. A collar with a broken leash, he said, was about the dog’s neck.

The deputy reports he was unable to approach the owner’s home “on account of the pit bull getting very aggressive towards me.”

The deputy advised the victim regarding the process of obtaining a criminal summons.

Investigation into the matter is continuing at the current time.
