Man Fears Relative Killed Colt And Stole Dog

A Five Points resident told law enforcement officials Monday that he feared a relative had killed a colt on his property before stealing his dog.

The matter is currently being investigated by detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.

It was shortly before 8:00 p.m. Monday when deputies were called to take the complaint issued by a resident of Legg Road. The victim reported a cousin had been staying at a home on Aldridge Lane in Leoma, along with other relatives. He indicated that the cousin had moved out on ill terms, having the power cut off while others still resided at the home.

On Monday he said they discovered a colt lying dead from what appeared to be a broken neck. In addition, the victim said his Red Heeler was missing. He told deputies he feared the crimes had been committed by the angered relative.

The victim estimated monetary loss to be $400.
