Monday Fire Claims West Lawrence Home

A home on Gibbs Road, west of Lawrenceburg, was deemed a total loss after a fire broke out there in the early afternoon Monday.

Officials indicate emergency personnel were dispatched to the home of Eric Nutt shortly after noon. Both Nutt and his wife were inside the home when the fire occurred.

Smoke alarms reportedly alerted the couple to the blaze. They then placed a 911 call to summon help. Units with the Crawfish Valley, Gandy, Ethridge and West End Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene. Officials indicate one firefighter had to be treated for heat exhaustion.

Officials report once the remains of the structure have cooled, an earnest investigation into the cause of the blaze will begin.
