Men Prowling About Property Take Item

Law enforcement officers opened an investigation into an incident on Old Jackson Highway Monday during which prowlers reportedly made off with an item from the back yard.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Leoma home shortly before midnight. The call was in regards to two people trying to break into the victim’s vehicle.

When deputies arrived at the home the victim reported that two men in a white four door car had pulled into his driveway and attempted to gain entry to his vehicle.

The victim said that their efforts were unsuccessful. He said they eventually gave up, then walked around the house to his back yard.

The victim told deputies that one of the men picked up an item from the yard and that both left on foot approximately five minutes before deputies arrived. He said that a third individual drove away in the car, traveling south along Old Jackson Highway.

The victim was uncertain what item had been taken. He told deputies that he would check the following morning and see whether he could identify the property.

Deputies conducted a search of the area but unable to locate the suspects.
