Highland Park FCE Club

Report by Lorene Chandler, secretary/reporter

Highland Park FCE Club met at Ponderosa Restaurant on March 7, 2013.  Hostess Loretta Washburn had the tables decorated beautifully.

After the delicious buffet, President Anita Zona-Peters called the meeting to order.  We said Pledge to the flag.  Anita read the thought for the day, "Don't be afraid to give up the good to go for the great".

Roll call by Lorene was answered by 100% members:  Merlyn Brewer, Carolyn Hester, Lorene Chandler, Bonnell Gobble, Anita Zona-Peters, Hazel Violet, Peggy Tingle, Loretta Washburn, and Faye Marston.

The question was "Name a person you'd like to pretend to be for a day."  Some very interesting people were named.

Poem "First Crocus" was read by Faye Marston.  The song "Side by Side" was sung by all.  Minutes were read by Lorene and Hazel Violet gave the treasurer's report.

Awards Luncheon and County Council, set for April 11th at First Methodist Church, was discussed.  Anyone not receiving a Leadership Award is to send $10.00.

The members signed a get well card for Anita Johnson and for Bonnell's daughter, Pam.  Merlyn also reported on the quilt she is busily making for the County Council room.

The program was given by Faye Marston entitled "Welcoming Spring".  She brought a vase of fresh spring flowers and gave out information for the members.

Merlyn and Faye showed how to wear a scarf and a necklace together and showed how to make other scarf ties.  Loretta gave everyone a pin to wear and following the spring theme, Anita gave everyone a spring nail file.

The hostess gift from Loretta was won by Peggy and the door prize from Carolyn was won by Bonnell.  The members decided to bring food for the New Prospect School's Backpack program at the next meeting in April.
