Resident Reports Truck Stolen, Burned

Shortly after making their way to a Leoma home to take a report regarding a stolen vehicle, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies were informed that a burned vehicle had been discovered further south in the county.

Deputies answered the 5:00 a.m. call to 94 Old Jackson Highway where the resident reported someone had stolen his son’s 2008 Toyota Tundra from the south side of the residence. The victim reported that his son had left the unsecured truck (valued at some $65,000) there around midnight, with the keys in the console area.

While they were at the scene taking information from the victims, deputies were notified by Lawrence Central Dispatch that members of the sheriff’s department had received notification of a vehicle that had been abandoned and burned on South Ore Road.

Deputies who made their way to the scene reported that the burned vehicle could have been the one stolen from the Leoma home. When reports were filed, investigators were still working to determine the vehicle owner.
