Alabama Resident Arrested In Connection With Stabbing Incident Saturday

An Alabama man sustained serious injury during the weekend after allegedly being stabbed by his girlfriend.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were dispatched to 212 Lawrence Street shortly after midnight to investigate a stabbing. When they arrived some people standing in the yard told them that the assailant was inside the house.

Officers report that they quickly handcuffed the suspect for officer safety, then began to take statements from those involved as well as two witnesses.

The suspect, Juanita Carroll, age 48, vehemently denied that she had done anything wrong. She told officers that she and her boyfriend, both residents of Sheffield, Alabama, had come to Lawrenceburg, “To have a good time with her cousin.”

She said that they had visited a club and during that time her boyfriend began to make advances toward another woman. She said that during an argument, “They both pulled knives on each other, but did not use them.”

Carroll said that a short time later someone stabbed him so they returned to the Lawrence Street home. She said that she did not have a knife and that the knife used to stab her boyfriend must have been left at the club.

Officers noted that the victim, age 39, had sustained a severe cut to his left thigh. He told them that after they got back from the club he and Carroll argued about a woman they had met there.

He said that he went into the bathroom and shortly afterwards Carroll entered. He told officers that she pulled out a knife and stabbed him after which he left the bathroom and asked the others to call for help.

Witnesses reported that Carroll had been, “acting crazy.” One said that she heard her threatening to stab the victim at around the very time he was stabbed.

The witnesses told officers that after the victim was stabbed Carroll exited the bathroom, threw the knife under the side of the couch, then sat down on the couch where she remained until their arrival.

Officers report that they were able to locate the knife beneath the couch. They then placed Carroll under arrest and transported her to the Lawrence County Detention Center without further incident.

Carroll was booked under one count of aggravated domestic assault. Bond was set at $25,000 however officers noted that she refused to sign a conditional bond for her release saying that, “She was not going to sign anything.”

Carroll will be required to answer the charge in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on May 1, 2014.
