Law enforcement officers were summoned to investigate burglaries at several locations Wednesday, including an American Legion post, a church and a local museum.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report they were dispatched to American Legion post 146 around 2:00 p.m. Commander James Beck reported that sometime after closing, 11:30 p.m., the previous day, someone burglarized three storage buildings on the property.

Taken were some $1,105 worth of food and clothing. Beck indicated a full inventory would be undertaken in order to determine whether anything else was missing.

Pastor Jesse Lee Cozart reported to Lawrenceburg Police Officers that someone had burglarized Victory Baptist Church. The burglary reportedly occurred between 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Deputies found that a glass door in the basement had been pried open.

Inside, thieves took change from Sunday School classrooms along with a guitar and assorted audio equipment. The hasps were also pried off two outbuildings, but nothing appeared to have been taken. Loss and damages were estimated to total $1,825.

Shortly before 5:00 p.m. officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were summoned to the David Crockett Museum on South Military Avenue where an individual reported someone had busted a display case.

The woman reported the two young men were exiting the museum when she arrived, one saying “Let’s get out of here.” She reported that they left in a 1980s model Chevrolet Camaro.

When she went inside, she discovered the glass display case had been shattered. Nothing appeared to be missing at the time reports were filed. Damages were estimated at $100.

These cases are under continued investigation by detectives with each department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
