West Lawrence homes Targeted By Burglars

   Two homes in western Lawrence County were targeted by burglars in past days, making off with firearms and cash.

   A resident of East Big Springs Road reported a burglary on Monday, indicating the burglary had taken place overnight Sunday.

The culprit reportedly attempted to pry open the front door but ultimately gained access to the home by breaking out a window. The only thing reported missing was cash. Loss and damages were estimated to total $700.

   Firearms were targeted at a home on J.R. Staggs Road Tuesday. The resident reported to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies that someone pried open the front door to gain access to the interior of the structure. Inside, the perpetrator stole one rifle and two shotguns. Total loss was approximately $3,700.

   Both crimes remain under investigation by detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information regarding the crimes is encouraged to contact the department at 762-3626.
