Cattle Rustling Charges Placed In St. Joseph Theft Case

Lawrenceburg officials have announced that two men have been arrested on cattle rustling charges in connection with recent thefts in Southern Lawrence County.

Lawrenceburg Police Chief Judy Moore issued a press release on the matter late last week, indicating that St. Joseph resident Thomas Christopher Roberson, 21, had been apprehended, along with Rogersville, Alabama, resident Brent Dean, also 21.

The thefts reportedly took place on four separate dates in the areas of Rosson Road and Roberts Drive, last October and November. Authorities allege that the duo stole a total of twelve cows and two calves and sold them to area livestock sale barns.

A Lawrence County Grand Jury has issued indictments charging both Dean and Roberson with three counts each of felony theft and one count apiece of attempted theft. Both have been arrested and processed through the Lawrence County Jail. They are currently free under a bond of $20,000 apiece. They are scheduled to answer the charges against them through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on Monday, April 13, 2009.

In regards to the case Moore stated, “We would like to thank the residents of the area for their help in solving the case. The arrests would not have been possible without the combined support of area farmers/residents.”
