Thief Steals Bank Card, Then Reseals Envelope

A local resident has reported to police officers that someone went to great lengths to steal a bank card from her mailbox without raising suspicion.

The victim reported she had signed for a debit card to be issued in her son’s name, and had been expecting to receive it through the mail.

When she received the envelope at her Leoma home, however, the victim said there was no debit card inside. Shortly afterward, she was made aware that an unauthorized charge had been made against her account.

According to the victim the culprit opened the envelope in which the card had been mailed, removed the card, then glued the envelope shut and returned it to her mailbox.

The victim reported the illegal transaction, totaling $202, had been made at an automatic teller machine at 200 Prosser Road.

The matter has been relinquished for further investigation by department detectives. Anyone who has information pertinent to the investigation is urged to contact the department at 762-3626.
