Several Indicted In Scheme To Smuggle Drugs Into Jail

Indictments have been issued against several individuals in connection with a February, multi-county police operation to staunch the flow of illegal drugs into the Lawrence County Detention Center.

During the investigation authorities report they learned that inmates were communicating with individuals outside the facility by telephone and video visitation.

During the conversations, authorities allege that inmates were arranging to have drugs brought in through their personal property.

Four local inmates were charged in connection with the investigation. Michael G. Lynch, 30, of Gainesboro, TN, Jason E. Clayton, 30, of Iron City, and Christopher Prince, 40, of Lawrenceburg, were charged with introduction of contraband into a penal institution and criminal conspiracy.

Inmate Kyle Davis, 32, of Iron City, was charged with attempted introduction of contraband into a penal institution and criminal conspiracy.

The investigation led to arrests of several individuals involved in the process. Those individuals and their charges are as follows:

*Clorene Allen, 77, of Gainesboro, introduction of contraband into a penal institution and criminal conspiracy

* Shirley Allen, 52, of Gainesboro, criminal conspiracy

*Michael R. Lynch, 54, of Gainesboro, introduction of contraband into a penal institution and criminal conspiracy

*Kimberly Carrol, 44, of Hohenwald, attempted introduction of contraband into a penal institution and criminal conspiracy

*Angie Stooksberry, 27, of Iron City, introduction of contraband into a penal institution.

*Mallory Katelyn Wooden, 23, of Hohenwald, possession of methamphetamine for resale, attempted introduction of contraband into a penal institution, possession of drug paraphernalia, and child neglect.

The child neglect charge against Wooden results from the fact that she allegedly had her four year old daughter with her when she delivered an eight ball (3.5 grams) of meth to a person, “who was to get the contraband into the detention center.”

The Department of Children’s Services subsequently placed the child with relatives.

Indictments in the case were served to Wooden, Davis, Michael Ray Lynch and Michael Gene Lynch on Monday.
