Author Of Alleged Hit List Is Back In Classroom

Officials report that a seventh grade student accuse of being the author of a “hit list” discovered at Ethridge Elementary School, has been returned to the classroom.

Officials indicate that the list, which contained a list of student names and the weapons the youngster wished to “use on them” was discovered by another student approximately two weeks ago.

The female student was placed on suspension, pending the outcome of a hearing. They indicate that she was allowed to return to classes on Tuesday.

While numerous parents have expressed outrage at the way the situation was handled, Director of Lawrence County Schools Dr. Bill Heath indicates that the matter was handled in accordance with all related policies and procedures. An in-house investigation was conducted. After parents began to express concerns, an investigation was undertaken through the Ethridge Police Department.

Heath indicates that he and other school officials are “confident there is no threat of harm or danger to the students of Ethridge Elementary School.”
