Man Places Blood On Doors After Threatening Resident’s Life

Police officers who responded to a domestic assault call Monday afternoon found that the suspect had allegedly placed blood on the doors after making threats against the victim’s life.

The call for assistance to the 870 Lawrence Avenue home went out at 4:31 p.m. Monday. When Lawrenceburg Police Officers arrived at the scene, they spoke with the female victim, age 55. She told officers that her boyfriend had chased her, along with her daughter, across the yard and into the house.

While they were inside the house, the victim said the man made various threats, saying that “they wouldn’t be safe in the house.” In addition, she reported that he had marked on the doors with blood while making threats against her. The victim told officers that she was in fear for her life, and that she believed he would, indeed, harm her.

Officers located the suspect, Donald James Towneley, 59, sitting inside a van in the yard of the home. They report that he had blood on his hands, but denied that the events had occurred.

Towneley was placed under arrest on charges of domestic assault and transported to the Lawrence County Jail. He is scheduled to answer the charge through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on May 1.
