Two Garner Meth Charges In Wake Of Pseudoephedrine Purchases

A pair of Iron City residents garnered meth charges in recent days while attempting to purchase pseudoephedrine at a Lawrenceburg pharmacy.

Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that agents with the department’s Crime Suppression Unit were summoned to Rite Aid on North Locust Avenue, in regards to a woman who was attempting to purchase the drug.

Employees told agents that the woman had been into the pharmacy on a month to month basis to purchase the drug, eliciting concern.

Agents made contact with the woman as she exited the store, heading toward a red, 1994 Ford Ranger. The woman was identified as Hollie Danielle McWilliams, 26, while the man driving the vehicle was identified as Keith Oneal Butler, 38, both of Railroad Bed Road, Summertown. Agents were soon contacted by store personnel who reported Butler had come in earlier, attempting to purchase the drug, as well.

After gaining permission to conduct a search of the truck, agents report seizing lithium batteries and Coleman fuel – two additional items commonly utilized in the production of methamphetamine.

Officers were advised that both had recently been arrested for operating a meth lab in neighboring Wayne County. They report that during questioning both Butler and McWilliams admitted they were obtaining the items in order to manufacture meth.

Both Butler and McWilliams were placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center. There they were booked on charges of promotion of the manufacture of meth. Both are scheduled to answer the charges through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on April 18, 2011.
