Patron Pulls Knife On Market Employee

A man who stopped in at an area market Tuesday reportedly pulled a knife on one of the employees.

According to reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. at Fall River Market on Fall River Road.

Owner Tom Owens came to the sheriff’s department to meet with deputies and file a complaint. He stated he had been having problems with the patron and had banned him from the property, ordering him not to return. Deputies then contacted the twenty-year-old female victim by telephone.

The victim told deputies she had stopped at the market around 2:00 p.m. As she attempted to go through the door, she said an acquaintance blocked her path and attempted to speak with her.

When she told him to move, she said he pulled out a knife and followed her inside. She said he placed his hand on the counter, exposing the knife blade, then threatened to cut her tires if she did not talk to him.

The victim told deputies she quickly escaped and left the store, but placed a 911 call to Lawrence Central Dispatch, making a report of a drunk driver. She gave the man’s vehicle description and he was subsequently arrested by Lawrenceburg Police Officers on a DUI charge.

After taking the second report, deputies obtained warrants against the man, twenty-nine-year-old Shawn Christopher Brooks of 1000 Clearview Avenue, Lawrenceburg, charging him with aggravated assault and aggravated criminal trespass. Those warrants were served at the Lawrence County Jail.

Brooks is scheduled to answer the charges through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on Monday, April 12, 2010.
