Counterfeit Bill Turned Over To Authorities

   A counterfeit bill, declined by a Lawrenceburg restaurant after employees deemed it not to be authentic, was turned over to authorities for further investigation Sunday.

   Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were dispatched to McDonald’s at 1216 North Locust Avenue around 8:00 a.m. Employees reported that the woman had attempted to make a purchase using the $20 bill. When they indicated their belief that the bill was counterfeit, they report that she paid with another bill, then retained the counterfeit one.

   The victim turned the counterfeit bill over to officers. She stated that she was certain she had been given the bill when she cashed a check at an Ethridge market.

   The matter remains under investigation at the present time through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
