Baseball Bat Wielded In Domestic Altercation

Law enforcement officials report that a baseball bat was wielded as a weapon during a domestic altercation that occurred in the early hours Saturday morning in the Five Points area.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies were summoned to intervene in the ruckus that occurred at 15 Owens Road shortly after 1:30 a.m. The female victim, age 30, told deputies that her boyfriend had become intoxicated and began to cause problems, when she asked him to leave. A friend reportedly “helped get him out of the house.” Shortly thereafter, she reports she heard noises coming from her son’s bedroom. She told deputies she looked into the room to find him climbing in through a window.

The victim said the male friend then intervened again, attempting to prevent him from entering the home. The male friend stated that they exchanged blows, and that the boyfriend then armed himself with a baseball bat.

Deputies worked to sort out the events of the evening, however in the end no arrests were made.

One of the men was transported to Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia to be checked for internal injuries.

Damages to the home as a result of the altercation were estimated to total $525.00.
