Leoma man faces multiple charges in drug operation

A Leoma man is facing multiple charges in connection with a police operation that targeted the illegal distribution of methamphetamine locally.
A press release issued through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department indicates that agents with the department’s Narcotics Division and the Tennessee Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop on suspect Charles Kirt Graves, in order to serve outstanding warrants for sale of a Schedule II controlled substance (meth) and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
The traffic stop was made at the Busby Road/US Highway 43 intersection in Loretto. A THP K9 unit was involved and officials report that K9 Duke alerted them to the presence of drugs inside the vehicle. They report that Graves confessed that he had ½ ounce of meth in the console.
During a search of Graves’ vehicle, agents report finding a bag that contained ¼ pound of marijuana in the rear seat area along with fifteen grams of meth that had been concealed inside of a black rubber glove, a set of digital scales, a box of plastic baggies, and a package of rolling papers.
As a result of the discover, Graves, age 35 of 162 Moskerson Road, Five Points was additionally charged with the crimes of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (meth) for the purpose of resale and possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana) for the purpose of resale.
