Defense Attorneys Issue Statement Rregarding Sheriff’s Indictment

Attorneys hired to represent Lawrence County Sheriff Kenny Taylor have issued a statement regarding the charges issued against him, indicating their belief that the matter will be resolved, and that Taylor will continue to perform his duties as sheriff.

The statement reads as follows:

“Ben Boston and Ryan Durham, Boston, Holt, Sockwell & Durham, PLLC, attorneys for Kenny Taylor, Sheriff of Lawrence County, in response to the recent allegation of official misconduct state:

“Sheriff Taylor will plead not guilty.  Sheriff Taylor will continue his sworn obligation to protect and serve the good people of Lawrence County who entrusted him to ensure their safety, freedoms, and God given rights.

“We are confident that our system of justice will bring about a speedy and fair end to this prosecution and vindicate Sheriff Taylor and his high office.”

The statement was issued in response to Taylor’s arrest, after he was indicted by a grand jury on Tuesday on one count of official misconduct.

Taylor is slated to answer the charge through Lawrence County Circuit Court on April 7.
