Loretto Man Arrested After Fleeing From Authorities

A Loretto man was placed under arrest last week after he allegedly fled from authorities who were attempting to serve a warrant.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report that Matthew Seth Fowler, age 24, was arrested after being stopped in the Loretto area.

Reports show that a deputy saw Fowler flee from 751 Fairview Road while he was awaiting the arrival of additional officers to serve him with a warrant charging him with violation of probation.

The deputy reports that he followed Fowler, who was driving at a very high rate of speed, and was unable to catch up to him. He noted that Fowler had, “Left marks in every turn that he had made on the roadway and changing roads.”

The reporting officer noted that Fowler was eventually stopped by an officer with the Loretto Police Department. He was placed under arrest on the violation of probation charge.

The deputy notes that when the Fowler’s vehicle was inventoried prior to being towed, they found a used syringe and clear baggie containing a white powder residue. He reports that Fowler admitted it was methamphetamine that he had used earlier that day.

An additional warrant was issued charging Fowler with possession of drug paraphernalia. Fowler was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center without further incident.
