Prowler Breaks In After Resident Retires

A Lawrenceburg woman who had noticed individuals prowling about her property summoned law enforcement officers to her home after someone pried through her door after she had retired for the evening.

The case is currently under review by detectives with the Lawrenceburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division.

Officers were dispatched to investigate a burglary at a Dawn Avenue home around 10:15 p.m. Saturday. The female resident, age 27, told officers that she had looked out earlier to find that a man was walking past her home. Shortly after, she heard dogs barking and looked out to find another man walking across her back yard. She told officers that she had assumed the man was walking to meet up with the other man, and was not overly concerned.

Shortly after she went to bed, the woman reports she heard her side door open. She indicated that she arose, turned on the hallway light, and found that her side door was standing open approximately six inches.

Officers found no one about the premises. They reported finding old pry marks on every door in the house, and new marks around the door that had been opened.

Damages to the home were assessed at approximately $150.00.
