Woman Arrested After Threatening Boyfriend With Knife

A woman was arrested Sunday at her West Point Road home after she allegedly made threats against her boyfriend while wielding a knife.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department responded to the domestic altercation call shortly before midnight.

The victim, age 37, told deputies that he and his girlfriend had been arguing about perceived infidelity while at the West Point Road residence. He said that during the argument she pulled a knife and held it to his throat. He said that she threatened to kill him, then began stabbing a mattress.

The victim said that he attempted to leave when she left the room, but that she placed the knife to his throat a second time and again threatened to kill him. He said that he left the premises on foot and walked to a nearby home of a family member.

When deputies confronted the girlfriend, forty-seven year old Lavonda Nell Moore, she admitted that they had been engaged in an altercation, but denied making any threats.

Deputies report finding holes in a mattress and a knife matching the victim’s description lying on a dresser inside the bedroom.

Moore told deputies that the holes in the mattress had occurred during an altercation three weeks prior and that she had been using the knife to work on a TV.

Moore was subsequently incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center on charges of aggravated domestic assault and domestic vandalism.
