LCHS Softball Team Involved In Giles Multi-Car Crash

Nearly everyone involved in a multi-car pile up on U.S. Highway 64 in Giles County Tuesday afternoon escaped the incident unscathed.

The crash included vehicles of a caravan transporting members of the Lawrence County High School Softball Team, parents and coaching staff, to a match in Shelbyville.

The caravan became involved in the crash around 2:00 p.m. near Coates Creek Methodist Church. Tennessee Highway Patrol reports indicate that the accident occurred while the caravan was following another vehicle. The vehicle reportedly attempted to make a sudden left turn, causing the caravan vehicles to strike one another.

Altogether, officials report that five automobiles transporting thirty-six individuals became involved in the pile-up.

Officials report that none of the players sustained injuries. Only one adult was transported from the scene to Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia with what was described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Two of the vehicles involved in the crash did sustain heavy damage, however officials indicate they were able to use the remaining three to transport the students back to LCHS.
