Sex Offender Registry Violator Arrested

A Lawrenceburg man accused of violating the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry Law was taken into police custody on Monday.

Officials indicate that Steven Lee Sharp, age 30, of 310 Wesley Chapel Road was arrested on one count of violation of the sex offender registry law. Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department report they had received information, indicating that Sharp had been residing at least two days per week at a home situated at 1000 Roberts Avenue. They indicate that a fourteen-year-old girl lives at the home, and that the residence is located between Roberts and Clearview Avenues, within 1,000 feet of a playground – which, also, violates the sex offender registry law.

Sharp was listed with the sex offender registry since April 25, 2005, in connection with a statutory rape conviction.

Sharp is slated to answer the violation charge in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on April 3, 2009.
