Charges Pending In Tire Burning Incident
Law enforcement officials were summoned to the scene of an outdoor blaze Tuesday where fire officials reported tires were being burned.
Members of the Leoma Fire Department summoned Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies to the dead end on Dogwood Lane around 4:30 p.m. Fire officials reported when they arrived on the scene, a man wearing an orange hat had fled on foot. Firefighters soon discovered tires among the debris being burned.
Eric Lopp with the Tennessee Forestry Division indicated he would report the matter to officials with the Environmental Protection Agency on Wednesday.
Investigation into the matter is continuing at the current time, and charges may be forthcoming.
