Thieves Target Meats At Supermarkets

   Local law enforcement officials report they discovered two individuals had been on a meat-stealing spree last week that encompassed three different super markets.

   An officer with the Lawrenceburg Police Department reports he made the discovery while at a home on Eighth Street on Thursday. He reports as he approached a vehicle with two individuals sitting inside, he noticed a white plastic bag filled with meat sitting on the rear seat. As he carried on a conversation with the female vehicle occupant, he reports, “The officer began to believe that the meat had been stolen.”

   The officer requested that the couple drive to the Lawrenceburg Police Department to speak with an investigator, and the couple complied. During the conversation, officers report the female suspect confessed that the meat had been stolen.

   Officers indicate that $25.39 worth of meat items had been stolen from Super Rama, 818 North Locust Avenue, $102.46 worth had been stolen from Walmart at 2130 North Locust Avenue, and $92.78 worth had been taken from Kroger, 1700 North Locust Avenue.

   No charges were filed at the time reports were generated, however charges are expected to be forthcoming.
