Patron Reports Wallet Lifted At Bar

A patron of the American Legion in Loretto reported to authorities late last week that his wallet had been stolen by another patron.

The seventy-six-year-old victim summoned Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies to his West Point home to file the complaint. He indicated that his wallet had been stolen around 10:15 p.m.

According to the victim, a male subject “was let into the bar” that evening. The victim stated that the man had come in so that he could purchase two six-packs of an alcoholic drink. The man reportedly stood beside the victim while making his purchase.

The victim indicated that at that time he had his wallet lying open, next to him on the bar. It contained numerous credit cards along with three $100 bills.

It was not until after the unknown man left the bar that the victim discovered his wallet was missing. The victim reported that he and others searched the bar, but were unable to locate his wallet. He said that he checked the sign-in sheet at the entrance, but that the man had not signed in.

The victim indicated that he had already called to cancel is credit card accounts.

Investigation of the crime is continuing at the present time.
