Woman Reports Being Stalked By Irate Driver
Lawrenceburg Now
Law enforcement officials are looking into a recent incident during which two Alabama women reported that another driver had stalked them following an encounter on the roadway.
The sixty-four and sixty-eight year old residents of Florence drove to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department to report the matter. They said that, while driving north on U.S. Highway 43 in the vicinity of St. Joseph, the driver of a red Chevrolet Blazer veered into their lane of travel, nearly colliding with them.
The victims said that they sounded their horn during the incident, which appeared to anger the driver. They said that he turned around, making inappropriate gestures and yelling at them. They said that they pulled into the parking lot of a St. Joseph business to avoid further contact, but that the driver turned around and headed toward them once again.
The victims said that the driver’s actions frightened them, so they drove north, pulling into the parking lot of a church to place a 911 call. They said that the driver passed them once again, then turned around and came back to their location. They women then drove to the sheriff’s department to seek help. Both said that the incident placed them in fear for their safety.
The women said that they were not interested in prosecuting the driver, but that they did wish for authorities to speak with him to avoid any future such incidents.
