Woman Attacked With Knife, Dragged Down Stairway By Visitor
A Lawrenceburg woman reportedly requested help in the early hours Sunday when a neighbor who was visiting in her home attacked her with a knife, then dragged her down a stairway.
The victim, a twenty-four-year-old resident of Bluff Drive, reported to Lawrenceburg Police Officers that she had invited neighbor Matthew Scott Tatum, 25, to her apartment for a visit.
While there, she said he became angry and agitated, then began to assault her. She reported that Tatum dragged her down the stairway of her apartment and into the yard.
When she freed herself, she said he “came at her with a knife” that had a black handle. Two witnesses verified her recounting of the events. Officers report that the victim sustained injuries to her face and knees.
Tatum was placed under arrest on charges of aggravated assault and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on April 1 in connection with the incident.
