Local businesses targeted in recent crimes
Lawrenceburg Now
Three local businesses were targeted in crimes that were recently reported through the Lawrenceburg Police Department.
The first crime was reported by the owner of Performance Motors on Third Street. The owner reported to officers that he had agreed to sell a 2002 Lexus GS3 to a woman with the understanding that she would pay for it when she received her income tax return.
He told officers that the woman had contacted him that day, saying that the car had been stolen. She informed him that the car had gone missing while she was asleep at Roy Smith Firestone on North Locust Avenue. The theft resulted in a loss of approximately $2,500. Two suspects have been identified in connection with the crime.
The second report was filed by officials with Clark’s Gym on North Locust Avenue. An employee told officers that his security lock box had been forced open, and the cash inside removed. He was able to provide video footage of the crime. He told officers that the man depicted in the video was a gym member. Loss in the case was reported to be $350.
Officers responded to the third complaint at Legends Express on North Military Avenue. The manager reported that he had arrived to find the back glass broken out of a delivery van, resulting in approximately $100 worth of damage. He told officers that nothing appeared to be missing from inside the vehicle.
At the present time all three crimes remain under investigation through the police department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
