Investigation Launched Into Monday Evening Ruckus

Law enforcement agents launched an investigation Monday evening after they were summoned to intervene in a physical confrontation during which a man claimed he had been robbed.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were dispatched to intervene in the fight around 8:00 p.m. at a home located at 233 Nixon Avenue.

The victim, age 27, told officers that he and another man had been at the home of a mutual friend, when the man assaulted him. He indicated that the man had head-butted him, choked him, then proceeded to steal his diamond watch, diamond ring, and cross necklace. After robbing him, the victim said the man left. He estimated losses from the theft to total $1,125.

Officer noted that the victim had sustained a knot on his head, and that he was headed to Crockett Hospital for medical attention.

In his report, the reporting officer also noted, “Before my arrival the complainant told (a deputy) that the incident was a drug deal that had gone bad, however he denied this when speaking to me.”

The matter has been handed over for more extensive investigation by detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
